Aysha Kamal (Head of LS & EAL)
Aysha graduated from London University in 1997 with a First Class Honours Degree in Primary Teaching Studies, specialising in English, Bilingualism and Early Years Education. She worked in multicultural and multilinguistic schools in London, teaching every age group from Early Years Nursery through to Year 6. Before arriving in Dubai to take up a position at JBS in September 2011, she was a member of her school’s Senior Leadership Team. She has also taught English at Secondary Level and she holds the UK National Professional Qualification for Headteachers (NPQH). Prior to her arrival in Dubai, Aysha has worked for a Government Local Authority as a Literacy and English as an Additional Language Consultant, leading training for teachers and working in partnership with schools to improve teaching and learning and raise standards of English.
Information and Computer Technology
Maha Asad, Head of ICT
Maha graduated from Jordan University with a BSc, majoring in Computer Science. She worked as a Web Developer for almost three years in Amman, Jordan and before taking her PGCE from the University of Sunderland. She began her teaching career at the School of Research Science in Dubai, teaching in the secondary school, and then taught at Latifa Primary School for Girls, after which, she moved to Raffles International School, where she was teaching and coordinating ICT for all grades. Maha joined JBS in September 2011 as our Head of ICT.
PE, Activities and Sport
Sandra Blair, Head of PE, Activities and Sport
Sandra is a graduate of Waikato University, in Hamilton New Zealand, where she took her degree in Sport and Leisure Studies. She has a strong pastoral care background and is a veteran organiser of numerous sporting trips and expeditions. Following extensive experience in New Zealand, teaching PE, Maths, and Health, she arrived to teach PE in Dubai at Uptown High School in September 2010, and transferred to JBS in 2011 as Head of PE, Sport and Activities.
Library
Robert Godel, Librarian
After three years in Qatar where he worked at Qatar Academy, Robert returned to Canada where he supervised 18 libraries at a District Teacher – Librarian. He has also taught immersion French in British Columbia and Alberta. He holds a B.Ed from the University of Alberta and the Teachers’ Professional Certificate from the BC College of Teachers, before taking his Teacher – Librarian Diploma in 2002.He has a keen interest in outdoor sports.
Avan Kazazz, Assistant Librarian

Avan graduated from Al-Mustansrya University in Baghdad, Iraq, in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in Library and Information Science and started her career working as a Librarian in the University of Baghdad. In 1996 she emigrated to New Zealand and held various administration positions in multinational companies. In 2004 she moved to Jeddah, KSA and worked at the British International School as Head Librarian. Following that, she moved to Dubai in 2007 and worked as High School Librarian at the al-Ittihad Private School, Jumeira, before joining JBS in 2010.
