EARLY YEARS and PRIMARY PROFILES

1. KG and Primary Class teachers

We are looking for teachers who have taught successfully in Primary or Early Years Schools. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in PK and KG1, while our KG2 – G5 curriculum centres on the English National Curriculum for Numeracy and Literacy and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). However, teachers who have taught in an IB PYP environment or in leading national systems would be very welcome applicants. Candidates with experience of the Early Years Foundation Stage, IPC, English Literacy and Numeracy strategies in an international context would be especially welcome applicants.

Class teaching at JBS represents an excellent opportunity for enthusiastic and committed colleagues to join a very carefully chosen team. It would suit teachers who are either looking to continue a successful career pathway or experienced professionals seeking to resume teaching after a break from the classroom. Whatever the stage of your career, we are looking for certain qualities: you will love teaching and have the ability to inspire our students.

While the classroom would be the main focus for the successful candidates, an ability to make a significant contribution to our extra - curricular activities (ECA) programme is important, perhaps in the field of outdoor education, environmental activities, service projects, sport, the arts or indeed in any activity or field of endeavour for which you have commitment and passion that can be communicated to students.

2. Teachers of Primary Arabic and Islamic Education

Arabic is central to our curriculum, both as a first and second language. It is introduced to mixed groups in PK and KG1 classes, and as separate classes from KG2 to Grade 5. While we are an IPC (International Primary Curriculum) and MYP School, and experience in teaching in an IPC or MYP school is an advantage for candidates, teachers who have taught in other national and international contexts would be welcome applicants.

This position represents an excellent opportunity for enthusiastic teachers of Primary Arabic, either as a first or second language. We are looking for staff who are committed to teaching in a way that develops true understanding and a love for language. An ability to offer Islamic Education is also an advantage.  Whatever the stage of your career, we are looking for certain qualities: you will be strongly committed to Arabic and have the ability to inspire our students.

While classroom teaching would be the main focus for the successful candidate, an ability to make a contribution to our extra - curricular activities (ECA) programme would be a real advantage, perhaps in the field of outdoor education, environmental activities, service projects, sport, the arts or indeed in any activity or field of endeavour for which you have commitment and passion that can be communicated to students.

3. Homeroom Teacher's Assistants (TAs)

Homeroom Teacher's Assistants are assigned to one or a pair of Primary classes.  They may be assigned a variety of tasks ranging from the preparation of display or teaching materials to assisting the teacher in the supervision of group and individual learning.  A strong command of English is essential for the position and candidates must have graduated from Grade 12 in their own education.  People from a wide range of backgrounds become TAs, but succesful practitioners positively enjoy working with children are patient while bringing a real sense of purpose and commitment to their work.

4. Substitute Teachers

We are seeking to grow our list of class substitute teachers.  You should be fully qualified to teach and have had experience in a similar national or international school.  Fluency in English is a requirement.  In the Secondary school we are looking for qualified secondary specialists to serve as substitute teachers.  "Subbing" is a rewarding career option at JBS and, for many, an ideal way to get back into the profession after a period away from the classroom.  You need to be flixible and prepared to work at delivering the lessons, and may be called upon to plan fully within the framework of the teaching week.

WHOLE SCHOOL

1. Learning Support and English as Additional Language (EAL) Learning Assistants

Learning support and EAL Assistants work as part of a whole school team to support the learning needs of a number of children throughout the school.  They work with small groups "one on one" and within a teacher's classroom under the direction of the Head of Special Needs and EAL.  This is rewarding work, but required real attention to detail, patience and dedication.  Working as an assistant can often open the way to a teaching career.  Candidates must have full fluency in English, and have completed Garde 12 graduation.
