Here at JBS we welcome and encourage active participation from our parent and guardian community. We strongly believe that together we can ensure a happy, healthy and vibrant community.
Parents can be actively involved by joining the JBS Parent Friends Association (PFA) or by volunteering to be a Primary Homeroom Parent Rep.
Parent Friends Association
The PFA was started in 2010 by a group of like-minded motivated parents that wanted to help with events throughout the school year and create a friendly, bonded community. As the school has grown, the PFA has become a more formalised organisation but its essential goal remains the same – to create a happy, bonded community within our school supporting the students, teachers and parents.
The PFA helps, in partnership with the school, to organise exciting and memorable events such as National Day Celebrations, the Magical Winter Wonderland, the colourful International Day, and movie nights to name but a few. The PFA supports cultural workshops, such as the vibrant Diwali celebration, the Christmas Fayre and the Ramadan Carnival – helping to celebrate and learn about our vibrant international community.
The PFA helps to fundraise for the school and UAE registered charities. The monthly PFA market is run by volunteer parents and sells a wonderful selection of pre-loved books and uniforms, delicious healthy bake sale goodies, and often also features student-led initiatives.
Primary Parent Rep
The Primary Homeroom Parent Rep is a role that helps to connect class parents together and support teachers with communications and class events. It’s a fun role that is supported with Termly group meetings with the Deputy Head of Primary.
