PE and Sports Activities

The philosophy of the Physical Education Department is that every pupil should be given the opportunity and encouragement to achieve their potential in a wide range of activities - ‘Sport for All and Excellence’. We also believe in educating each student to become a lifelong learner and participator in sport.

Physical activity is necessary to a person's well-being - we all know the saying ‘a healthy mind, a healthy body. Children are constantly developing physically and emotionally and studies have shown that they are especially affected by the benefits of activity. Since educators cannot control the amount of exercise a child gets at home nor can they control his or her eating habits, it is vital for them to provide an appropriate physical education programme at school to ensure that each child stays active.

Physical education programs in schools play a big role in ensuring a students' physical health. Having the recommended amount of exercise will help fight and protect from many known illnesses like obesity, diabetes, heart disease, asthma and sleep disorders.

At JBS we fully embrace the fundamentals of a healthy lifestyle and believe that physical activity is crucial for a person to develop into a healthy, knowledgeable adult.

The aim of physical education is to facilitate physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development. We want to cultivate a healthy and active lifestyle for our students. We work hard at developing essential motor skills while promoting intercultural awareness on the importance of physical education throughout history, and in terms of the values it enhances. We allow our students to have proper sense of self-reflection, communication and team work. Physical education is fun, exciting, and challenging and can be a great motivator for a positive lifestyle.
