Admissions FAQs

What is the admissions process?

There are 3 steps to the admissions process:

  1. Fill out an online application
  2. Submit required documents
  3. If spaces are available, pay the application fee and complete the assessment

What types of assessment do you use for entry?

If places are available you will receive an invitation to submit further information and/or schedule an assessment.

– Pre-K to KG2 students, will be invited for an informal stay and play at the school. For families who are outside of Dubai, other arrangements will be made.

– Children applying to Grade 1-2 may be invited for paper based assessments.

– Children applying to Grades 3-11 will take a computerized cognitive ability assessment (CAT4 Test) and a paper assessment for mathematics and english. Children who are overseas will be able to do this step remotely.

We will contact you with a date and time for your child’s assessment, which will be conducted by the Admissions Office and the JBS faculty. After the assessment and upon receiving an acceptance letter, a deposit fee is required to reserve your seat. A seat cannot be held until the deposit payment is received. We will advise the amount in the acceptance letter.

Acceptance to Jumeira Baccalaureate School is dependent upon the results of the placement assessment, student interview (if needed) and former school reports.

What age can my child enroll?

In order to enter PreKG, your child must turn 3 on, or before, December 31st.

My child is currently in Grade 11 can they still enroll?

We accept applications for Grade 11 until mid october once the academic year has begun.

What curriculum do you offer at JBS?

The curriculum taught at JBS is the International Baccalaureate.

What is the language of instruction?

The language of instruction is English.

What other languages do you teach?

At JBS we teach French A and B, Arabic A and B and Spanish ab initio for our Grade 11 and 12 students.

Do you offer any discounts or scholarships?

We offer sibling discounts and discounts for Emirates employees.

Can my child transfer from a different curriculum to the IB?

The international nature of the IB makes it a relatively smooth transition for students moving from a different curriculum.

Does my child need a transfer certificate to enroll?

Until Grade 1 our admissions team will enroll based on date of birth, to go into Grade 2 parents will need to provide a transfer certificate from the previous school.

What nationalities are your students and staff?

We have over 96 different nationalities of students at JBS. The majority being Emirati, British, French, American and Indian.

We have over 40 different nationalities of teachers. The majority being British.

What after-school activities do you offer?

We offer a wide array of both internal (teacher-run) and external activities after school. From the more academic (mathematics, engineering) to athletic (swimming, horse-riding, football) to artistic – and everything else in between!

Our classes are capped at:

PreKG: 20 students

KG1 and KG2: 24 students

Grade 1 – Grade 12: 26 students

Where is the school located?

The school is located in Jumeirah 1 off of Al Wasl 51.

Bring your own device policy?

Students in Grades 3 and Grades 4 are required to bring an Ipad to school. Students from Grade 5 – Grade 12 are required to bring a laptop to school.

Does the school provide transportation?
